George R. Taber papers, 1867-1904.

The George R. Taber papers consist primarily of his diaries dating from 1869-1895. The diaries record Taber's emigration from New Jersey to California in 1869 via Panama and the steamer Colorado. The diaries record his arrival in San Francisco, his search for work as a carpenter and details of his life in California, including cash accounts, church attendance and Masonic activities. Also included in the collection are correspondence, ephemera and business papers.

The Northport Community Association, founded in 1918 to "provide for the comfort and entertainment of such soldiers quartered at Brindley Field," which was located south of Northport in Commack. It ceased to operate in 1919 when the temporary airfield was no longer needed to train flyers. George Babcock was the secretary of the association.
